Clarke; Helen Archibald Clarke; b. 13 Nov. 1860 in Philadelphia, PA; d. 8 Feb. 1926 in Boston, MA; American literary critic, book editor, composer and lyricist; co-edited with Charlotte Endymion Porter the complete works of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning; wrote several books on Browning and other American writers; co-wrote with Porter in 1897 Clever Tales, a book of translations of European authors; wrote cantatas and operettas for children; co-founded with Porter in 1889 the quarterly journal Poet Lore in Philadelphia, later moving it to Boston and in 1903 selling it, but both remained editors for many years, it is now the oldest continuing poetry magazine in the US; member of Boston Browning Society, Boston Authors Club, and part of the founding coalition of the American Music Society of Boston)
